I hope everyone has been enjoying the holiday season and spent quality time with family and friends. That’s what the holidays are all about right? That and indulging in big meals, Christmas goodies, and too much chocolate! I definitely indulged in more than a few and woke up this morning craving some greens. I find the easiest way to add greens back into your day is to drink it!
So I grabbed the blender cup, checked out our selection of frozen fruit and this smoothie with greens and plenty of other good stuff is what I came up with. It was so tasty I made it again when Nick came home from work! My boys drank the bright green smoothie without knowing there’s a cup of fresh spinach and a cup of kale blended right in. I added hemp hearts and chia seeds for the additional protein, fibre, and healthy fats. Also no need for added sweeteners as the combo of grapes and banana naturally give it sweetness. The pineapple helps overpower the greens so I promise you won’t be plugging your nose! It’s quite delicious and has an enjoyable tropical flavour. My boys asked for seconds when they finished so it’s kid approved too! I was concerned with Lucas having pineapple though, so I limited his portion and hoping it doesn’t cause a reaction tomorrow. For Lucas most food causing masto triggers take a day or two to show up since it’s not a true allergy. I’m hoping this is ok with his system as he really enjoyed it and there’s so many beneficial nutrients packed into the smoothie. Try it out and let me know what you think!
