In the summer our family went to a gorgeous local berry farm and picked a load of berries to freeze to get us through the winter months. While we were there we picked up some humungous blackberries. We ate most of them fresh but we saved one freezer bag full for a winter treat.
We were down to the icy remnants of the bag so the berries became destined for a smoothie. I get protein into my kids in a variety of ways like hemp hearts but today the kids requested a creamy smoothie so I opted for yogurt. And not just any yogurt but a full fat, protein rich Greek style yogurt. Don’t be afraid of things that are full fat! It’s much better to eat a full fat dairy product than a low fat one. It leaves you feeling more satiated and it’s less processed.
This smoothie is tasty enough to be called a milkshake. It’s rich, creamy and vibrant with the summery taste of blackberries. Enjoy!
- 2 cups frozen blackberries
