Nothing says New Year’s Resolution time quite like smoothies. Everyone wants to recover from December, the month of indulgences and excess. Smoothies are the perfect way to do this!
It is, however, hard to get away from our recently acquired sweet teeth after a month of goody consumption. I was daydreaming about a particularly delicious apple crisp I made over the holidays when I created this smoothie. It has all the components of a perfect crisp, apples, cinnamon, oats and vanilla. The sweetener is a banana, which also thickens it up giving it a wonderful creamy texture. Did you know that cinnamon helps lower your blood sugar level and acts as an appetite suppressant? Not too bad for something that also tastes delicious!
I have a hard time eating a big heavy breakfast in the indecently early hours of the morning in which I am forced to rise so a smoothie is my go to meal as I can sip it over a long period of time. This recipe makes enough to fill a very tall glass with a bit extra. If I’m feeling generous I will save some for Adam for when he comes home from work or I’ll drink a second dose when that sweet craving hits me in the later hours of the afternoon.
So whip up this smoothie and indulge away! Your resolutions will remain intact as this is a goody without the guilt.
